Amendments
Three amendments that were added to the Constitution of the United States, after the Civil War, were the
13th, 14th, and 15th amendments.


The 13th --- The thirteenth amendment gave all African Americans freedom in the United States.

The thirteenth amendment was ratified on December 6, 1865.

The 14th --- The fourteenth amendment gave citizenship to African Americans in America.

The fourteenth amendment was added to the Constitution on July 9, 1868.

The 15th --- The fifteenth amendment gave African Americans the right to vote in the U.S.

The fifteenth amendment was adopted February 3, 1870.

The fourteenth and fifteenth amendment granted African Americans more rights than women. The fourteenth amendment gave citizenship to free slaves, while women weren’t granted the right to have citizenship.

The fifteenth amendment gave African Americans the right to vote in the United States while women were still fighting for suffrage.
